POSITION STATEMENTS

These position statements are a reflection of NHACC and our commitment to the environment. In light of the current change in Administration, we wanted to highlight our stance on some major initiatives taken by the new leadership.

Paris Climate Agreement

Pivotal to our role as health administrators we hold an obligation to the communities in which we serve and therefore stand behind the Paris Climate Accord to ensure the longevity of generations to come. With the obligation to hold global warming to below 2 degrees celsius, we pledge to take part in decreasing emissions from the healthcare industry. As a global treaty, the unity that the Paris Climate Agreement brings sets precedence for what needs to occur across all industries. We, as current and future healthcare leaders, are determined to lead in the direction that supports the stipulations outlined by the agreement, which in turn supports the health of our communities.

World Health Organization

As healthcare leaders, the best practices we take to keep our patients safe are steered by science. WHO, an agency who focuses on providing health care, coverage and protection against health emergencies diminishes the political boundaries around the world to work on science-based solutions to better the health of our populations. Not only has the United States played a historic role in WHO, but continued support means advancing pandemic preparedness, reversing  the health consequences of climate change, and promoting better health globally.

Keystone XL Pipeline

Not only is a warming planet putting the populations we care for at risk, but climate change will unequally affect minority and lower income populations around the country and world. Vulnerable populations are not only facing a climate crisis, but also the exasperating inequalities that exist within our communities. Revoking the Keystone XL Pipeline is a critical step to acknowledging its pervasive threats to climate, ecosystems, drinking water sources, and public health, and advancing a national commitment to decreasing our reliance on dirty energy.
